وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ بَالَوَيْهِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ثنا رَوْحٌ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَتَرَبَّعُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ قَالَ ثنا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ التَّرَبُّعِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ كَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ يَفْعَلُهُ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ رُوِّينَا عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ إِنَّمَا قَعَدَ كَذَلِكَ فِي التَّشَهُّدِ وَاعْتَذَرَ فِي ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ رِجْلَيْهِ لَا تَحْمِلَانِهِ وَذَلِكَ يَرِدُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ تَعَالَى
English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, Abu Bakr ibn Balawayh informed me, Muhammad ibn Yunus narrated to us, Rawh narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us from Qatadah that Anas used to sit cross-legged during prayer. And with the same chain, Shu'bah narrated to us. He said: I asked Qatadah about sitting cross-legged during prayer, and he said: Muhammad ibn Sirin said: Abdullah ibn Umar used to do it. The Shaykh said: It has been reported from Ibn Umar that he sat like that in the tashahhud, and he excused himself by saying that his legs could not support him. That will be mentioned, God willing.
