English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, Muhammad ibn Salih ibn Hani informed me, al-Sari ibn Khuzaymah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Sa'id ibn al-Asbahani narrated to us, Hafs ibn Ghiyath narrated to us from Humayd ibn Qays from Abdullah ibn Shaqiq from Aisha who said: I saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) praying cross-legged. It has been authentically reported from Uthman ibn Hakim from Amir ibn Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr from his father who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), when he sat in prayer, would place his left foot between his thigh and shin and spread out his right foot — except that was in the sitting for the tashahhud, and this (cross-legged) was perhaps due to an ailment. And Allah knows best.
