وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حِمْشَاذٍ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي اللَّيْثِ ثنا الْأَشْجَعِيُّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ أَبِي عَوْنٍ قَالَ رَأَى أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ امْرَأَةً بِوَجْهِهَا أَثَرٌ مِثْلُ ثَفِنَةِ الْعَنْزِ فَقَالَ لَوْ لَمْ يَكُنْ هَذَا بِوَجْهِكِ كَانَ خَيْرًا لَكِ وَرُوِّينَا عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ أَنَّهُ أَنْكَرَهُ وَقَالَ وَاللهُ مَا هِيَ سِيمَاءُ
English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, Ali ibn Himshad narrated to me, Yazid ibn al-Haytham narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Abi al-Layth narrated to us, al-Ashja'i narrated to us from Sufyan from Thawr ibn Yazid from Abu Awn. He said: Abu al-Darda saw a woman with a mark on her face like the callus of a goat's knee. He said: It would be better for you if this were not on your face. It was also reported from al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid that he disapproved of it and said: By Allah, it is not the sign (of piety).
