English Translation
Abu Hurairah narrated: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would be silent between the opening takbir and the recitation. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, may my mother and father be ransom for you, what do you say during the silence between the takbir and the recitation?' He said: 'I say: O Allah, put distance between me and my sins as You have put distance between the East and the West. O Allah, cleanse me of my sins as a white garment is cleansed of filth. O Allah, wash my sins from me with water, snow, and hail.'"
