أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ ابْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ قَالَ إِنِّي حَلَفْتُ أَنْ لَا أُكَلِّمَ رَجُلًا حِينًا قَالَ {تُؤْتِي أُكُلَهَا كُلَّ حِينٍ بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهَا} [إبراهيم 25] قَالَ هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ يَكُونُ فِيهَا حِمْلُهَا شَهْرًا وَشَهْرَينِ فَنَرَى الْحِينَ شَهْرَيْنِ
English Translation
Ibrahim ibn Maysarah reported that a man asked Ibn al-Musayyib: I swore not to speak to a man for a 'hin' (period of time). He recited: 'Yielding its fruit every hin by permission of its Lord.' He said: It is the date palm; its fruit takes a month or two. We consider a 'hin' to be two months.
