أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ ثنا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ ثنا هِشَامٌ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ أَتَيْنَا عَائِشَةَ أَنَا وَعُبَيْدُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ وَهِيَ بِبِئْرِ مَيْمُونٍ نَسْمَعُ صَرِيفَ السِّوَاكِ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْحِجَابِ وَهِيَ تَسْتَاكُ فَأَلْقَتْ إِلَيْنَا وِسَادَةً قَالَ فَسَأَلْنَاهَا عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ وَسَأَلْنَا عَنْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ {لَا يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ اللهُ بِاللَّغْوِ فِي أَيْمَانِكُمْ} [البقرة 225] فَقُلْنَا لَهَا مَا اللَّغْوُ؟ فَقَالَتْ هُوَ أَحَادِيثُ النَّاسِ فَعَلْنَا وَاللهِ صَنَعْنَا وَاللهِ
English Translation
Ata said: Ubayd ibn Umayr and I came to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) at Bi'r Maymun. We could hear the brushing of the miswak from behind the curtain as she was cleaning her teeth. She threw us a cushion to sit on. We asked her about various things, and we asked about the verse: 'Allah will not hold you accountable for idle oaths.' She said: It is people's casual talk: 'We did it, by Allah' and 'We made it, by Allah.'
