English Translation
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that two men disputed before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet asked the claimant for evidence, but he had none, so he asked the defendant to swear. The defendant swore by Allah, besides Whom there is no deity. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You have done so, but you are forgiven for your sincere declaration of La ilaha illa Allah. This is as reported.
