أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ أنبأ أَبُو نَصْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَمْدَوَيْهِ بْنِ سَهْلٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ السِّنْجِيُّ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أنبأ سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي السَّلِيلِ عَنْ زَهْدَمٍ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ ؓ قَالَ أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَسْتَحْمِلُهُ فَقَالَ وَاللهِ لَا أَحْمِلُكُمْ وَمَا عِنْدِي مَا أَحْمِلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَلَمَّا رَجَعْنَا أَرْسَلَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِثَلَاثٍ ذَوْدٍ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّكَ حَلَفْتَ أَنْ لَا تَحْمِلَنَا فَحَمَلْتَنَا قَالَ أَنِّي لَمْ أَحْمِلُكُمْ وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ حَمَلَكُمْ وَاللهِ لَا أَحْلِفُ عَلَى يَمِينٍ فَأَرَى غَيْرَهَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا إِلَّا أَتَيْتُهُ
English Translation
Al-Bara' ibn Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us with seven things and forbade us from seven. He commanded us to visit the sick, follow the funeral procession, say Yarhamuk Allah to the one who sneezes, accept invitations, spread the greeting of peace, help the oppressed, and fulfill oaths. He forbade us from gold rings, drinking from silver vessels, silk, brocade, thick silk, silk-padded saddles, and al-qassiy (a type of silk garment).
