English Translation
Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about clarified butter, cheese, and fur garments. He said: 'The lawful is what Allah has made lawful in His Book, the forbidden is what Allah has made forbidden in His Book, and what He was silent about is pardoned.' This was also narrated from another chain from Salman in a marfu' form. It was also narrated from Ibn Abbas and Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with them).
