أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ ثنا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ النَّهْدِيُّ ثنا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسْنَاءِ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عُتَيْبَةَ عَنْ حَنَشِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ يُضَحِّي بِكَبْشٍ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَبِكَبْشٍ عَنْ نَفْسِهِ قُلْنَا يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ تُضَحِّي عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أُضَحِّيَ عَنْهُ أَبَدًا؛ فَأَنَا أُضَحِّي عَنْهُ أَبَدًا
English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, al-Abbas ibn Muhammad al-Duri narrated to us, Malik ibn Isma'il al-Nahdi narrated to us, Sharik narrated to us from Abu al-Hasna' from al-Hakam ibn Utaybah from Hanash ibn al-Harith who said: Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) used to sacrifice a ram on behalf of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and a ram on behalf of himself. We said: "O Commander of the Faithful, you sacrifice on behalf of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He said: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded me to sacrifice on his behalf forever, so I sacrifice on his behalf forever."
