وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ أَوْ مُزَيْنَةَ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَبْلَ الْأَضْحَى بِيَوْمٍ أَوْ يَوْمَيْنِ فَكَانُوا يُعْطُونَ الشَّاتَيْنِ بِالثَّنِيَّةِ فقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْجَذَعَةُ تُجْزِي مِمَّا تُجْزِي مِنْهُ الثَّنِيَّةُ
English Translation
And Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz and Abu Sa'id ibn Abi Amr informed us, they said: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Marzuq narrated to us, Wahb ibn Jarir narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us from Asim ibn Kulayb from his father from a man among the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from Juhaynah or Muzaynah, that they were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a day or two before the Day of Sacrifice. They were giving two sheep for one two-year-old, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A young ewe suffices for what a two-year-old suffices for."
