قَالَ وأنبأ الشَّافِعِيُّ أنبأ مَالِكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ كُنْتُ عَامِلًا مَعَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَلَى سُوقِ الْمَدِينَةِ فِي زَمَانِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ فَكَانَ يَأْخُذُ مِنَ النَّبَطِ الْعُشْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ كُنْتُ عَامِلًا مَعَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَلَى سُوقِ الْمَدِينَةِ فِي زَمَانِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ فَكَانَ يَأْخُذُ مِنَ النَّبَطِ الْعُشْرَ
English Translation
He said: al-Shafi'i informed us, Malik informed us from Ibn Shihab, from al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid, who said: I was working with 'Abdullah ibn 'Utbah over the market of Madinah during the time of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), and he used to collect a tenth from the Nabataeans.
