Abu al-Husayn ibn al-Fadl al-Qattan informed us in Baghdad, from Abu Amr ibn al-Sammak, from Muhammad ibn Ubaydullah al-Munadi, from Abdullah ibn Bakr al-Sahmi, from Hisham — meaning Ibn Hassan — from al-Hasan, from Sa'sa'ah ibn Mu'awiyah who said: I met Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) leading or driving his camel with a water-skin around its neck. I said: O Abu Dharr, what is the matter? He said: I have my deeds. I said: O Abu Dharr, what is the matter? He said: I have my deeds — three times. I said: Will you not narrate to me something you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)? He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: No two Muslim parents lose three children who have not reached the age of accountability except that Allah admits them to Paradise by the virtue of His mercy upon them. And no Muslim spends a pair from his wealth in the cause of Allah except that the gatekeepers of Paradise rush toward him. And Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abdan informed us, from Ahmad ibn Ubayd, from Muhammad ibn Isa al-Wasiti, from Amr ibn Awn, from Hushaym, from Mansur and Yunus, from al-Hasan — and he mentioned it with a similar meaning, adding: Except that the gatekeepers of Paradise rush toward him, each one calling him to what is before him. I asked: How is that? He said: If it is men, then two men; if it is camels, then two camels; if it is sheep, then two sheep.
