أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بِشْرَانَ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الرَّزَّازُ ثنا سَعْدَانُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ سَمِعَ السَّائِبَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ ؓ يَقُولُ ذُكِرَ لِي أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ وَأَصْحَابًا لَهُ شَرِبُوا شَرَابًا وَأَنَا سَائِلٌ عَنْهُ فَإِنْ كَانَ يُسْكِرُ حَدَدْتُهُمْ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنِ السَّائِبِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يَحُدُّهُمْ
English Translation
Al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid said: "I heard Umar say: 'It has been reported to me that Ubaidullah ibn Umar and some of his companions drank a beverage. I will investigate it, and if it is intoxicating, I will apply the prescribed punishment upon them.'" Sufyan said from Ma'mar from al-Zuhri from al-Sa'ib: "Then I saw him applying the punishment upon them."
