وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ أنبأ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الرَّزَّازُ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أنبأ دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ قَالَ قَالَ عُمَرُ ؓ رَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَرَجَمَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَرَجَمْتُ وَلَوْلَا أَنِّي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ أَزِيدَ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ لَكَتَبْتُهُ فِي الْمُصْحَفِ فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ أَقْوَامٌ فَلَا يَجِدُونَهُ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ
English Translation
Narrations about the Prophet's rulings on oaths and their expiation. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever swears an oath and then sees something better should do the better thing and expiate for his oath." This establishes the flexibility of oaths in Islam and the importance of doing what is right.
