أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَنْبَأَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ رُؤْيَا رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ ؓ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ اجْتَمَعُوا فَقَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَنَزَعَ ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ وَاللهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ قَامَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ فَاسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا فَمَا رَأَيْتُ عَبْقَرِيًّا مِنَ النَّاسِ يَفْرِي فَرِيَّهُ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ
English Translation
Narrations about the virtues of guarding the frontiers (ribat) and the rewards for those who defend Muslim lands. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Every person's deeds cease when he dies, except the one who guards the frontier — his deeds continue to grow until the Day of Judgment, and he is saved from the trial of the grave."
