وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيُّ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْفَقِيهُ قَالَا أنبأ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَافِظُ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُبَشِّرٍ ثنا تَمِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْتَصِرِ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عُمَرَ ؓ قَالَ إِذَا أُجِيفَ الْبَابُ وَأُرْخِيَتِ السُّتُورُ فَقَدْ وَجَبَ الْمَهْرُ
English Translation
A man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) complaining that he had nothing to give as a dowry. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Look for something, even an iron ring.' The man said: 'I have nothing.' The Prophet said: 'What do you know of the Quran?'
