أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَدِيبُ أنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْإِسْمَاعِيلِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ عُقَيْلِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ أَنَّ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنَ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْقُرَظِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ قَيْسَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ وَكَانَ صَاحِبَ لِوَاءِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَرَادَ الْحَجَّ فَرَجَّلَ أَحَدَ شِقَّيْ رَأْسِهِ فَقَامَ غُلَامٌ لَهُ فَقَلَّدَ هَدْيَهُ فَنَظَرَ قَيْسٌ وَقَدْ رَجَّلَ أَحَدَ شِقَّيْ رَأْسِهِ فَإِذَا هَدْيُهُ قَدْ قُلِّدَ وَأَهَلَّ بِالْحَجِّ وَلَمْ يُرَجِّلْ شِقَّ رَأْسِهِ الْآخَرَ
English Translation
Qays ibn Sa'd al-Ansari, who was the bearer of the banner of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), intended to perform Hajj. He had combed one side of his head when his servant garlanded his sacrificial animal. Qays looked and saw that his sacrificial animal had been garlanded, so he pronounced the talbiyah for Hajj without combing the other side of his head.
