أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نَصْرٍ أنا أَبُو الْفَضْلِ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ عَنْبَسَةَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ النَّخَعِيِّ حَدَّثَنِي أَشْيَاخُنَا قَالُوا صَارَ فِي قِسْمَةِ النَّخَعِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَبْنَاءِ الْمُلُوكِ يَوْمَ الْقَادِسِيَّةِ فَأَرَادَ سَعْدٌ أَنْ يَأْخُذَهُ مِنْهُمْ فَعَدَوْا عَلَيْهِ بِسِيَاطِهِمْ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِمْ إِنِّي كَتَبْتُ إِلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ فَقَالُوا قَدْ رَضِينَا فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ عُمَرُ إِنَّا لَا نُخَمِّسُ أَبْنَاءَ الْمُلُوكِ فَأَخَذَهُ مِنْهُمْ سَعْدٌ فَقَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ لِأَنَّ فِدَاءَهُ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ
English Translation
Al-Mughirah ibn al-Nu'man al-Nakha'i said: Our elders said that a man from the sons of the kings fell in the share of al-Nakha' on the day of al-Qadisiyyah. Sa'd wanted to take him from them, but they attacked him with their whips. He sent word to them: 'I have written to Umar ibn al-Khattab.' They said: 'We are satisfied.' Umar wrote to him: 'We do not take the fifth from the sons of kings.' So Sa'd took him from them. Al-Mughirah said: Because his ransom was worth more than that.
