أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أنا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ ح وَأنا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ الْعَدْلُ بِبَغْدَادَ أنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ قَالَا ثنا سَعْدَانُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ أَنَّ صَفِيَّةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ لِأَخٍ لَهَا يَهُودِيٍّ أَسْلِمْ تَرِثْنِي فَسَمِعَ بِذَلِكَ قَوْمُهُ فَقَالُوا أَتَبِيعُ دِينَكَ بِالدُّنْيَا فَأَبَى أَنْ يُسْلِمَ فَأَوْصَتْ لَهُ بِالثُّلُثِ
English Translation
Ikrimah narrated that Safiyyah, the wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), said to a Jewish brother of hers: 'Accept Islam and you will inherit from me.' His people heard about this and said: 'Will you sell your religion for this world?' So he refused to accept Islam, and she bequeathed one-third to him.
