أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو الْأَدِيبُ أنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْإِسْمَاعِيلِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ ثنا الْمُنْذِرُ بْنُ شَاذَانَ ثنا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ ثنا مَرْوَانُ عَنْ هَاشِمِ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ مَرِضْتُ فَعَادَنِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ لَا يَرُدَّنِي عَلَى عَقِبِي قَالَ لَعَلَّ اللهَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَكَ فَيَنْفَعَ بِكَ نَاسًا فَقُلْتُ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُوصِيَ وَإِنَّمَا لِيَ ابْنَةٌ أَفَأُوصِي بِالنِّصْفِ؟ قَالَ النِّصْفُ كَثِيرٌ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَالثُّلُثُ؟ قَالَ الثُّلُثُ وَالثُّلُثُ كَثِيرٌ أَوْ كَبِيرٌ قَالَ فَأُوصِي بِالثُّلُثِ فَجَازَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ
English Translation
Abu Amr al-Adib informed us with his chain from Hashim ibn Hashim from Amir ibn Sa'd from his father Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas who said: I fell ill in Mecca with an illness from which I feared death. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came to visit me and I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have much wealth and only a daughter as my heir. Shall I give two-thirds in charity?' He said: 'No.' I said: 'Then half?' He said: 'No.' I said: 'Then a third?' He said: 'The third, and the third is much.'
