أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ أنا الرَّبِيعُ ثنا الشَّافِعِيُّ قَالَ وَمَا قُلْتُ مِنْ أَنَّهُ إِذَا تَغَيَّرَ طَعْمُ الْمَاءِ وَلَوْنُهُ وَرِيحُهُ كَانَ نَجِسًا يُرْوَى عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِنْ وَجْهٍ لَا يُثْبِتُ أَهْلُ الْحَدِيثِ مِثْلَهُ وَهُوَ قَوْلُ الْعَامَّةِ لَا أَعْلَمُ بَيْنَهُمْ فِيهِ خِلَافًا
English Translation
Al-Shafi'i said: "What I have said about water becoming impure when its taste, color, or smell changes is narrated from the Prophet through a chain that hadith scholars do not consider strong, but it is the position of the scholars in general. I do not know of any disagreement among them about it."
