أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنا أَبُو الْفَضْلِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ثنا شَبَابَةُ حَدَّثَنِي وَرْقَاءُ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ إِنْ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مُؤْمِنٌ إِلَّا أَنَا أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِهِ فَأَيُّكُمْ مَا تَرَكَ دَيْنًا أَوْ ضَيَاعًا فَلْأُدْعَ إِلَيْهِ؛ فَأَنَا مَوْلَاهُ وَأَيُّكُمْ مَا تَرَكَ مَالًا فَإِلَى الْعَصَبَةِ مَنْ كَانَ
English Translation
Abu Sa'id informed us: Abu Abdullah narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Nasr narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Bakkar narrated to us: Ibn Abi al-Zinad narrated from his father from Kharijah from his father Zayd ibn Thabit regarding the inheritance of freed slaves (mawali): If a man frees a slave, the patronage belongs to him. If the patron dies, the patronage passes to his male heirs.
