قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى أنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ كَانَ عَلِيٌّ وَزَيْدٌ ؓ يُوَرِّثَانِ مِنَ الْجَدَّاتِ الْأَقْرَبَ فَالْأَقْرَبَ عَلِيٌّ وَزَيْدٌ ؓ يُوَرِّثَانِ مِنَ الْجَدَّاتِ الْأَقْرَبَ فَالْأَقْرَبَ
English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz and Abu Sa'id informed us: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us: Yahya ibn Abi Talib narrated to us: Yazid ibn Harun informed us: Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated from Amrah from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): Barirah came to me seeking my help for her manumission contract. I said: If your masters agree, I will pay the entire sum and the patronage will be mine. Her masters refused, and she mentioned this to the Prophet (peace be upon him). He said: Buy her and free her, for the patronage belongs to the one who frees.
