أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ الْفَقِيهُ أنا أَبُو عُثْمَانَ الْبَصْرِيُّ ثنا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ أَخْبَرَنِي بِشْرُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ بْنَ عُيَيْنَةَ يَقُولُ إِنَّمَا قِيلَ الْفَرَائِضُ نِصْفُ الْعِلْمِ؛ لِأَنَّهُ يُبْتَلَى بِهِ النَّاسُ كُلُّهُمْ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَيُذْكَرُ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ وَقَتَادَةَ الْفَرِيضَةُ ثُلُثُ الْعِلْمِ
English Translation
Aishah narrated: "The Prophet (peace be upon him) came to me joyfully. He said: 'Did you not see that Mujazziz al-Mudliji looked at Zayd ibn Harithah and Usamah ibn Zayd, their heads covered while their feet were visible, and said: These feet belong to one another (i.e., they are related).'" This was recorded in the two Sahihs.
