حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ رِيَاحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ مَنْ خَرَجَ مِنْ الطَّاعَةِ وَفَارَقَ الْجَمَاعَةَ فَمَاتَ فَمِيتَتُهُ جَاهِلِيَّةٌ وَمَنْ خَرَجَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي يَضْرِبُ بَرَّهَا وَفَاجِرَهَا لَا يَتَحَاشَى مِنْ مُؤْمِنِهَا وَلَا يَفِي لِذِي عَهْدِهَا فَلَيْسَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي وَمَنْ قُتِلَ تَحْتَ رَايَةٍ عِمِّيَّةٍ يَدْعُو لِلْعَصَبَةِ أَوْ يَغْضَبُ لِلْعَصَبِيَّةِ أَوْ يُقَاتِلُ لِلْعَصَبِيَّةِ فَقِتْلَةٌ جَاهِلِيَّةٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ زِيَادَ بْنَ رَبَاحٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ مَنْ فَارَقَ الْجَمَاعَةَ وَخَالَفَ الطَّاعَةَ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ وَلَا يَفِي لِذِي عَهْدِهَا.
English Translation
Isma'il told us, from Ayyub, from Ghaylan ibn Jarir, from Ziyad ibn Riyah, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: "Whoever departs from obedience and separates from the community and then dies, his death is a death of the Age of Ignorance. And whoever rises up against my nation, striking at both its righteous and its wicked, sparing not even its believers and not fulfilling his pledge to those under covenant with it, does not belong to my nation. And whoever is killed under a blind banner, championing tribal partisanship, becoming angry for the sake of tribal partisanship, or fighting for the sake of tribal partisanship, his killing is a killing of the Age of Ignorance." Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'bah told us, from Ghaylan ibn Jarir, who said: I heard Ziyad ibn Rabah say: I heard Abu Hurayrah say: "Whoever separates from the community and opposes obedience..." and he mentioned its meaning, except that he said: "and does not fulfill his pledge to those under covenant with it."
