English Translation
Waki' told us: al-A'mash told us, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah — and Abd al-Rahman, from Sufyan, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah — who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every deed of the son of Adam is multiplied, a good deed by ten times its like, up to seven hundred times, up to whatever Allah wills. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: 'Except fasting, for it is Mine and I reward it Myself; he leaves his food and drink for My sake.' The fasting person has two joys: a joy when he breaks his fast, and a joy when he meets his Lord; and the odor of the fasting person's mouth is more pleasant to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, than the scent of musk. Fasting is a shield, fasting is a shield." Ibn Numayr told us: al-A'mash told us: Abu Salih told us: Abu Hurayrah said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, and he mentioned its meaning.
