Arabic (Original)
وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي إِنْ شِئْتَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَا مُسْتَكْرِهَ لَهُ وَلَكِنْ لِيَعْزِمْ فِي الْمَسْأَلَةِ.
English Translation
And with his chain of transmission, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, he said: "None of you should say, 'O Allah, forgive me if You will,' for Allah, Mighty and Sublime, cannot be compelled, but let him be resolute in the request."
