English Translation
Hajjaj told us: Layth told me: Uqayl told me, from Ibn Shihab, from Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman and Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab, from Abu Hurairah, who said: A man from among the Muslims came to the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was in the mosque, and called out to him, saying, "O Messenger of God, I have committed adultery." The Messenger of God turned away from him. The man moved around to face him again and said, "O Messenger of God, I have committed adultery." The Messenger of God turned away from him again, until the man repeated this four times. When he had testified against himself four times, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, called him and said, "Are you insane?" He said, "No." He said, "Are you married?" He said, "Yes." The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Take him away and stone him." Ibn Shihab said: Someone who heard Jabir ibn Abdullah told me that he said: "I was among those who stoned him. We stoned him at the place of prayer, and when the stones caused him pain, he fled, but we caught up with him at al-Harrah and stoned him."
