حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْهَاشِمِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَصِينٍ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعْتَكِفُ الْعَشْرَ الْأَوَاخِرَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ وَالْعَشْرَ الْأَوَاسِطَ فَمَاتَ حِينَ مَاتَ وَهُوَ يَعْتَكِفُ عِشْرِينَ يَوْمًا.
English Translation
Sulayman ibn Dawud al-Hashimi narrated to us, he said: Abu Bakr ibn 'Ayyash narrated to us, from Abu Hasin, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to observe i'tikaf (spiritual retreat) during the last ten days and the middle ten days of Ramadan. When he died, he was observing i'tikaf for twenty days.
