حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى قَالَ فَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللَّهُ بِيَدِهِ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ أَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنْ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ فَقَالَ آدَمُ أَنْتَ مُوسَى أَنْتَ اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِكَلَامِهِ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ أَعْمَلُهُ كَتَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ قَالَ فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى.
English Translation
Mu'awiyah ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Za'idah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (peace be upon him) who said: "Adam and Musa debated. Musa said: 'O Adam, you are the one whom Allah created with His Hand and breathed into you from His Spirit. You led people astray and caused them to be expelled from Paradise.' Adam said: 'You are Musa, whom Allah chose with His speech. You blame me for an act that Allah had decreed upon me before He created the heavens and the earth.' So Adam prevailed over Musa in the argument."
