حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَهْبٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ الْبَرِيَّةِ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ رَجُلٌ آخِذٌ بِعِنَانِ فَرَسِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ كُلَّمَا كَانَتْ هَيْعَةٌ اسْتَوَى عَلَيْهِ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِالَّذِي يَلِيهِ قَالُوا بَلَى قَالَ الرَّجُلُ فِي ثُلَّةٍ مِنْ غَنَمِهِ يُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِشَرِّ الْبَرِيَّةِ قَالُوا بَلَى قَالَ الَّذِي يُسْأَلُ بِاللَّهِ وَلَا يُعْطِي بِهِ.
English Translation
Ishaq ibn 'Isa narrated to us, he said: Abu Ma'shar narrated to us, from Abu Wahb - the freed slave of Abu Hurayrah - from Abu Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Shall I not inform you of the best of creation?" They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "A man holding the reins of his horse in the cause of Allah the Almighty; whenever there is an alarm, he mounts it. Shall I not inform you of the one who follows him?" They said: "Yes." He said: "A man in a small flock of his sheep who establishes prayer and gives charity. Shall I not inform you of the worst of creation?" They said: "Yes." He said: "The one who is asked by Allah (in His name) and does not give."
