Arabic (Original)
وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَسْرِقُ سَارِقٌ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَزْنِي زَانٍ حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الشَّارِبُ حِينَ يَشْرَبُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ يَعْنِي الْخَمْرَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ وَلَا يَنْتَهِبُ أَحَدُكُمْ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ يَرْفَعُ إِلَيْهِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فِيهَا وَهُوَ حِينَ يَنْتَهِبُهَا مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَغِلُّ أَحَدُكُمْ حِينَ يَغِلُّ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَإِيَّاكُمْ إِيَّاكُمْ.
English Translation
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'No thief steals at the time he steals while being a believer. No adulterer commits adultery at the time he commits it while being a believer. No drinker drinks — meaning alcohol — at the time he drinks while being a believer. By the One in Whose hand is Muhammad's soul, none of you plunders something of value while the believers raise their eyes toward him, while being a believer at the time he plunders it. And none of you embezzles at the time he embezzles while being a believer. So beware, beware!'
