حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ اشْتَكَتْ النَّارُ إِلَى رَبِّهَا فَقَالَتْ أَكَلَ بَعْضِي بَعْضًا فَأَذِنَ لَهَا بِنَفَسَيْنِ نَفَسٌ فِي الشِّتَاءِ وَنَفَسٌ فِي الصَّيْفِ فَأَشَدُّ مَا يَكُونُ مِنْ الْحَرِّ مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ.
English Translation
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The Fire complained to its Lord saying: O Lord, parts of me are consuming other parts. So He permitted it two breaths — a breath in winter and a breath in summer. The most intense heat you experience is from the breath of Hell.'
