English Translation
Muhammad ibn Fudayl told us, Umarah and Jarir told us, from Umarah, from Abu Zur'ah, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, when he said the takbir in prayer, would remain silent between the takbir and the recitation. I said: "May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, tell me about your silence between the takbir and the recitation, what is it?" He said: "I say: 'O Allah, distance me from my sins as You have distanced the East from the West; O Allah, cleanse me of my sins as a white garment is cleansed of filth.'" Jarir said: "As the garment is cleansed - 'O Allah, wash me of my sins with snow, water, and hail.'" My father said: All of it is from Abu Zur'ah except this, which is from Abu Salih.
