حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ انْتَدَبَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِمَنْ خَرَجَ فِي سَبِيلِهِ لَا يَخْرُجُ إِلَّا جِهَادًا فِي سَبِيلِي وَإِيمَانًا بِي وَتَصْدِيقًا بِرَسُولِي فَهُوَ عَلَيَّ ضَامِنٌ أَنْ أُدْخِلَهُ الْجَنَّةَ أَوْ أُرْجِعَهُ إِلَى مَسْكَنِهِ الَّذِي خَرَجَ مِنْهُ نَائِلًا مَا نَالَ مِنْ أَجْرٍ أَوْ غَنِيمَةٍ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ مَا مِنْ كَلْمٍ يُكْلَمُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ إِلَّا جَاءَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كَهَيْئَتِهِ يَوْمَ كُلِمَ لَوْنُهُ لَوْنُ دَمٍ وَرِيحُهُ رِيحُ مِسْكٍ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ مَا قَعَدْتُ خِلَافَ سَرِيَّةٍ تَغْزُو فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَبَدًا وَلَكِنِّي لَا أَجِدُ سَعَةً فَيَتْبَعُونِي وَلَا تَطِيبُ أَنْفُسُهُمْ فَيَتَخَلَّفُونَ بَعْدِي وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَوَدِدْتُ أَنْ أَغْزُوَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَأُقْتَلَ ثُمَّ أَغْزُوَ فَأُقْتَلَ ثُمَّ أَغْزُوَ فَأُقْتَلَ.
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Fudayl told us, from Umarah, from Abu Zur'ah, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has guaranteed for one who goes out in His path, going out for nothing but jihad in My path, faith in Me, and belief in My messenger, that I will admit him into Paradise or return him to his home from which he set out, having attained whatever reward or spoils he attained. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, there is no wound inflicted in the path of Allah but it will come on the Day of Resurrection in the same state it was inflicted, its color the color of blood but its scent the scent of musk. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, were it not that it would be difficult for the Muslims, I would never remain behind any expedition fighting in the path of Allah; but I do not find the means to carry them all, and it does not please them to remain behind me. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, I would love to fight in the path of Allah and be killed, then fight and be killed, then fight and be killed."
