حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ يَقُولُ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا كَالْمُوَدِّعِ فَقَالَ أَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ النَّبِيُّ الْأُمِّيُّ أَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ النَّبِيُّ الْأُمِّيُّ ثَلَاثًا وَلَا نَبِيَّ بَعْدِي أُوتِيتُ فَوَاتِحَ الْكَلِمِ وَجَوَامِعَهُ وَخَوَاتِمَهُ وَعَلِمْتُ كَمْ خَزَنَةُ النَّارِ وَحَمَلَةُ الْعَرْشِ وَتُجُوِّزَ بِي وَعُوفِيتُ وَعُوفِيَتْ أُمَّتِي فَاسْمَعُوا وَأَطِيعُوا مَا دُمْتُ فِيكُمْ فَإِذَا ذُهِبَ بِي فَعَلَيْكُمْ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ أَحِلُّوا حَلَالَهُ وَحَرِّمُوا حَرَامَهُ.
English Translation
Yahya ibn Ishaq told us: Ibn Lahi'a informed us, from Abdullah ibn Hubayra, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Jubayr, who said: I heard Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As say: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came out to us one day as one bidding farewell, and said, "I am Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet; I am Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet" - three times - "and there is no prophet after me. I have been given the opening words, the comprehensive words, and the concluding words, and I know the number of the keepers of Hellfire and the bearers of the Throne, and I have been pardoned and my nation has been pardoned. So listen and obey as long as I am among you; and when I am taken away, hold fast to the Book of Allah - make lawful what it makes lawful and forbid what it forbids."
