English Translation
Abu Kamil told us; Hammad - meaning Ibn Salamah - told us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Ali ibn Abdullah al-Bariqi, from Abdullah ibn Umar: that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when he mounted his riding animal, would say Allahu Akbar three times, then say: "Glory be to the One who has subjected this to us, and we could never have done so by ourselves, and indeed to our Lord we will return." Then he would say: "O Allah, I ask You on this journey of mine for righteousness and piety, and for deeds that please You. O Allah, make this journey easy for us and fold up its distance for us. O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey and the Guardian of the family left behind. O Allah, accompany us on our journey and take care of our family in our absence." And when he returned to his family, he would say: "We return, repentant, worshipping, and praising our Lord."
