English Translation
Abu al-Mughirah told us: Safwan told us, from Shurayh ibn Ubayd al-Hadrami, that he heard al-Zubayr ibn al-Walid relate from Abdullah ibn Umar, who said: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, went on a raid or a journey and night overtook him, he would say: 'O earth, my Lord and your Lord is Allah. I seek refuge with Allah from your evil, and the evil of what is in you, and the evil of what has been created in you, and the evil of what creeps upon you. I seek refuge with Allah from the evil of every lion and every black creature, and snake and scorpion, and from the evil of the dweller of this land, and from the evil of a father and what he has fathered.'
