حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ كُلُّكُمْ رَاعٍ وَمَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ الْإِمَامُ رَاعٍ وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ وَالرَّجُلُ فِي أَهْلِهِ رَاعٍ وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ وَالْمَرْأَةُ رَاعِيَةٌ فِي بَيْتِ زَوْجِهَا وَهِيَ مَسْئُولَةٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهَا وَالْخَادِمُ فِي مَالِ سَيِّدِهِ رَاعٍ وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ هَؤُلَاءِ مِنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَحْسَبُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَالرَّجُلُ فِي مَالِ أَبِيهِ رَاعٍ وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ فَكُلُّكُمْ رَاعٍ وَكُلُّكُمْ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ.
English Translation
Abu al-Yaman told us, Shu'ayb told us, from al-Zuhri, Salim ibn Abdullah told me, from Abdullah ibn Umar, that he heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock. The ruler is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock; the man is a shepherd over his household and is responsible for his flock; the woman is a shepherdess in her husband's house and is responsible for her flock; the servant is a shepherd over the wealth of his master and is responsible for his flock." He said: "I heard these from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and I think the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, also said: 'And the man is a shepherd over his father's wealth and is responsible for his flock.' So each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock."
