حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ دَخَلَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ عَلَى يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ وَغُلَامٌ مِنْ بَنِيهِ رَابِطٌ دَجَاجَةً يَرْمِيهَا فَمَشَى إِلَى الدَّجَاجَةِ فَحَلَّهَا ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ بِهَا وَبِالْغُلَامِ وَقَالَ لِيَحْيَى ازْجُرُوا غُلَامَكُمْ هَذَا مِنْ أَنْ يَصْبِرَ هَذَا الطَّيْرَ عَلَى الْقَتْلِ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَى أَنْ تُصْبَرَ بَهْمَةٌ أَوْ غَيْرُهَا لِقَتْلٍ وَإِنْ أَرَدْتُمْ ذَبْحَهَا فَاذْبَحُوهَا.
English Translation
Abu al-Nadr told us, Ishaq ibn Sa'id told us, from his father, who said: Ibn Umar entered upon Yahya ibn Sa'id, and a boy among his sons had tied up a hen and was throwing things at it. He walked over to the hen and untied it, then came forward with it and with the boy, and said to Yahya, "Restrain this boy of yours from making this bird endure such torment before killing it, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbid that any young animal, or anything else, be confined for the purpose of killing; and if you want to slaughter it, then slaughter it properly."
