حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُطِيعٍ فَقَالَ مَرْحَبًا بِأَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ضَعُوا لَهُ وِسَادَةً فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا جِئْتُكَ لِأُحَدِّثَكَ حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ نَزَعَ يَدًا مَنْ طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّهُ يَأْتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا حُجَّةَ لَهُ وَمَنْ مَاتَ وَهُوَ مَفَارِقٌ لِلْجَمَاعَةِ فَإِنَّهُ يَمُوتُ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً.
English Translation
Abd al-Malik told us, Hisham - that is Ibn Sa'd - told us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father, who said: I entered with Ibn Umar upon Abdullah ibn Muti', who said: Welcome, Abu Abd al-Rahman, put out a cushion for him. He said: I have only come to you to tell you a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Whoever withdraws a hand from obedience will come on the Day of Resurrection with no argument for himself, and whoever dies while separated from the community dies a death of pre-Islamic ignorance.
