حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ فُضَيْلٍ وَيَزِيدُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ الْعَوْفِيِّ قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ { الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ ضَعْفٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ ضَعْفٍ قُوَّةً ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ ضَعْفًا } فَقَالَ { اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ ضُعْفٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ ضُعْفٍ قُوَّةً ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ ضُعْفًا } ثُمَّ قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَمَا قَرَأْتَ عَلَيَّ فَأَخَذَ عَلَيَّ كَمَا أَخَذْتُ عَلَيْكَ.
English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, from Fudayl; and Yazid said: Fudayl ibn Marzuq informed us, from 'Atiyyah al-'Awfi, who said: I recited to Ibn 'Umar: 'He who created you from weakness, then made after weakness strength, then made after strength weakness,' and he said: 'Allah is He who created you from weakness, then made after weakness strength, then made after strength weakness and gray hair.' Then he said: I recited to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, just as you have recited to me, and he corrected me just as I have corrected you.
