English Translation

Abdullah said: I found in my father's book: Hajjaj told us, Shu'bah told us, from Thabit al-Bunani, who said: I asked Ibn Umar, "Is nabidh made in earthenware jars forbidden?" He said, "They claim that." I said, "Who claimed that - the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him?" He said, "They claim that." I said, "O Abu Abd ar-Rahman, did you hear it yourself from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him?" He said, "They claim that." He said: Allah, the Exalted, turned that away from me that day, for whenever one of them was asked, "Did you hear it yourself from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him?" he would become angry and then intend harm toward his companion.
