English Translation
Yazid told us: Muhammad — meaning Ibn Amr — informed us, from Yahya ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Hatib, who narrated to them from Ibn Umar, that he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stood at the well on the day of Badr and said: 'O so-and-so, O so-and-so, have you found what your Lord promised you to be true? Indeed, by Allah, they now hear my speech.' Yahya said: Aishah said: 'May Allah forgive Abu Abd al-Rahman; he was mistaken. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, only said: By Allah, they now know that what I used to tell them was true. And Allah, Exalted is He, says: {Indeed, you cannot make the dead hear} and {You cannot make those in the graves hear}.'
