English Translation
Isma'il narrated to us: Ayyub narrated to us, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever frees his share - or he said, his portion, or he said, his part of ownership - in a slave, and he has enough wealth to cover the slave's price at a fair valuation, then he is fully freed; otherwise, only what he freed of him is freed." Ayyub said: Nafi' would sometimes say this in the hadith, and sometimes not say it, so I do not know whether it is part of the hadith or whether Nafi' said it on his own account - meaning his statement "then only what he freed of him is freed."
