حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْيَشْكُرِيِّ عَنِ الْمَعْرُورِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَتْ أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ اللَّهُمَّ مَتِّعْنِي بِزَوْجِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَبِأَبِي أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَبِأَخِي مُعَاوِيَةَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّكِ سَأَلْتِ اللَّهَ لِآجَالٍ مَضْرُوبَةٍ وَأَرْزَاقٍ مَقْسُومَةٍ وَآثَارٍ مَبْلُوغَةٍ لَا يُعَجَّلُ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ قَبْلَ حِلِّهِ وَلَا يُؤَخَّرُ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ بَعْدَ حِلِّهِ وَلَوْ سَأَلْتِ اللَّهَ أَنْ يُعَافِيَكِ مِنْ عَذَابٍ فِي النَّارِ وَعَذَابٍ فِي الْقَبْرِ كَانَ خَيْرًا لَكِ.
English Translation
Abdul Razzaq told us: al-Thawri told us, from Alqamah ibn Marthad, from al-Mughira ibn Abdullah al-Yashkuri, from al-Ma'rur ibn Suwayd, from Abdullah, who said: Umm Habiba said, "O Allah, let me enjoy my husband, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and my father Abu Sufyan, and my brother Mu'awiya." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You have asked Allah for fixed terms, apportioned provisions, and destined ends — nothing of which is hastened before its time nor delayed after its time. Had you asked Allah to spare you from punishment in the Fire and punishment in the grave, it would have been better for you."
