English Translation
Ya'qub told us: my father told us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: Abdul Rahman ibn al-Aswad ibn Yazid al-Nakha'i told me, from his father, who said: My uncle Alqamah and I entered upon Abdullah ibn Mas'ud at midday. He said: He established the Dhuhr prayer, so we stood behind him; he took my hand and my uncle's hand and placed one of us on his right and the other on his left, then he stood between us, and we formed a single row behind him. He said: Then he said, "This is how the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do when they were three." He said: So he led us in prayer, and when he bowed he pressed his forearms to his thighs and put his hands between his knees. He said: When he gave the salutation, he turned to us and said, "There will be leaders who delay the prayer from its proper times; if they do that, do not wait for them with it, but count your prayer with them as a supererogatory prayer."
