حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَحَجَّاجٌ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ عَنْ عِيسَى الْأَسَدِيِّ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الطِّيَرَةُ مِنْ الشِّرْكِ وَمَا مِنَّا إِلَّا وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يُذْهِبُهُ بِالتَّوَكُّلِ.
English Translation
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said: 'I swear by Allah, there is no surah in the Book of Allah except that I know where it was revealed, and there is no verse in the Book of Allah except that I know regarding whom it was revealed. If I knew of anyone more knowledgeable than me in the Book of Allah and camels could reach him, I would ride to him.'
