حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ خُصَيْفٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَصَفَّ صَفَّا خَلْفَهُ وَصَفٌّ مُوَازِي الْعَدُوِّ قَالَ وَهُمْ فِي صَلَاةٍ كُلُّهُمْ قَالَ وَكَبَّرَ وَكَبَّرُوا جَمِيعًا فَصَلَّى بِالصَّفِّ الَّذِي يَلِيهِ رَكْعَةً وَصَفٌّ مُوَازِي الْعَدُوِّ قَالَ ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ هَؤُلَاءِ وَجَاءَ هَؤُلَاءِ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ قَامَ هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ صَلَّى بِهِمْ الرَّكْعَةَ الثَّانِيَةَ فَقَضَوْا مَكَانَهُمْ ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ هَؤُلَاءِ إِلَى مَصَافِّ هَؤُلَاءِ وَجَاءَ أُولَئِكَ فَقَضَوْا رَكْعَةً.
English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq told us, Sufyan told us, from Khusayf, from Abu Ubaydah, from Abdullah, who said: "We were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he arranged a row behind him and a row facing the enemy, and they were all in prayer. He said Allahu Akbar and they all said Allahu Akbar together, and he led the row nearest to him in one rak'ah while the row facing the enemy remained in position. Then those went and these came, and he led them in one rak'ah. Then those with whom he had prayed the second rak'ah stood and completed their own position, then these went to the ranks of those, and those came and completed a rak'ah."
